About IAA-VIC

Where Creativity

Meets Invention

Founded in 1989, the Inventors Association Australia – Victoria (IAA-VIC) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. With a membership of over 1,000 inventors from diverse backgrounds and locations, our mission is to support and promote the interests of inventors across Australia.

IAA-VIC offers a comprehensive range of benefits designed to encourage inventors at every stage of the invention process. Our team of professionals has the knowledge and expertise to provide valuable assistance, including patent research using our exclusive Ambercite license, prototype development support, and access to resources. As part of our commitment to showcasing your inventions, we not only upload your product video to our YouTube channel but also feature it prominently on our website, maximizing exposure to potential customers. We work closely with inventors to understand their needs and goals, providing tailored solutions to help them achieve success. With IAA-VIC, you can unlock the full potential of your invention and bring it from idea to reality.

Some of the services and resources offered by IAA-VIC include:

  • Information and support: We provide members with access to a wealth of information about the invention process, including guidance on patenting, marketing, and securing funding. Additionally, we offer support services such as one-on-one counseling, workshops, and networking events.

  • Advocacy: IAA – VIC advocates for the interests of inventors at the government level. We work to ensure that inventors have access to the resources and support they need to succeed, and we actively lobby for policies that are favorable to inventors.

  • Networking: We provide opportunities for inventors to network with like-minded individuals and industry experts. Our events include monthly in-person and online meetings, Q&A sessions with industry experts, assessment of ideation and prototypes through our feasibility committee, and social gatherings. Additionally, we maintain an online inventor forum where inventors and innovators can collaborate, share ideas, and seek guidance from others in the field.

IAA-VIC is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, and governed by a board of directors elected by our membership. We are a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, and our funding comes from membership dues and donations. As part of our commitment to recognizing exceptional inventors, we host a yearly Inventor-of-the-Year competition, celebrating groundbreaking inventions and their creators.
